Factory 220 Wedding: Angelina + Stacey
I remembered my consultation with Angelina and Stacey in back in December of 2015. Angelina’s last question to me was: “So what are most of your clients like?” My response was: “A lot of my clients seem to have an artistic side to them, most of them certainly seem to have a strong love and appreciation for art and photography.” Unbeknownst to me back then was that Angelina had a background in the visual arts!
It all began in grade school for these two as they actually went to the same K-8 Catholic school. They were a year a part, grade wise, but Stacey became best friends with Angelina’s cousin. They grew up ten minutes away from each other but their lives would take on different paths. Angelina went on to pursue a career in education whereas Stacey became a Black Hawk helicopter pilot in the U.S. Army. They were reunited in 2012 thanks to an introduction from Angelina’s cousin. When they were dating, they frequently met up at the historic Hoboken train station as their rendezvous point. The Hoboken train station was where we photographed their engagement session back in June.

I knew there was something very special about both Robin and Braden – they booked me the day my son was born! Both Robin and Braden are both devout foodies who love traveling and adventure. I got to know them better during their engagement shoot shortly before their wedding and I was immediately drawn to Robin’s charisma and energy as well as Braden’s vast knowledge of food and history.
Both Robin and Braden have friends and family travel to their wedding from different parts of the world including Brazil and Japan – it was certainly a wedding worth traveling across the globe for. The wedding, which took place at the beautifully industrial venue, The Foundry (in Long Island City) was among the most colorfully adorned weddings I have covered. Floral decorations were exotic tropical flowers and fruits that included ginger flowers, baby pineapples, and baby bananas.
But even without the beautiful venue and adornments, the energy and love shared by these two during their wedding day were strongly felt by everyone. One of the speeches made during the toast summed up their relationship perfectly: “Robin is a musician and she has an appreciation for jazz comprised of exotic staccatos and beats – a type of jazz that only Braden can play.” (based on my memory).
Special thanks to Joseph Victor Stefanchik (whom I consider my mentor) for traveling all the way from Florida to second shoot this remarkable wedding with me.

Shooting conditions could not have been more ideal for me. It was essentially a perfect day for an outdoor wedding, it was sunny and cool. The ceremony took place during the late afternoon/evening in one of the outdoor corridors adjacent to the main ballroom with an inset Chuppah. Lighting conditions were all over the place with uneven pockets of harsh light coupled with pockets of open shade – I couldn’t have been more happy with how things turned out!
It was truly great to see them again and meet their family and friends. A big heartfelt thank you Jessica and Larry for trusting me with your most special day – Mozel Tov!
Special thanks to William Chang for assisting and second shooting.
Daphne and Gee’s wedding day was filled with so much emotion and joy. Their family flew in from as far as Singapore and Malaysia to be with them on their most special day. The day started out in Daphne’s quintessential New York City apartment with Daphne and her bridesmaids getting ready while Skyping on an iPad with her family and friends in the Far East who were not able to be with her. The day progressed with a Chinese wedding day tradition in which the groom had to bribe and charm his way through the bridesmaids to get to the bride for a first look. After a few snaps at Central Park we hopped into a limo and made our way to the beautiful Mohonk Mountain House in New Paltz, New York. There were some new experiences for me along the way, this was the first wedding that involved me getting on a row boat with my camera just to get close enough to get the shot I wanted.
Many thanks to Stephen Tang for great assisting.
A heartfelt thank you to Ryan Brenizer who trusted me to document the first two days of this three-day Hindu wedding and then second shoot for him on the third day. I still have memories of Nishita and Akhil’s wedding which took place in the sultry month of August in Somerset, New Jersey. How could I not, this was my first Hindu wedding and it was an experience to remember as it was a culmination of beauty and intensity – each day consisted of several different rituals and mini ceremonies. The mélange of colors, aromatic fragrances, and music all left such an indelible impression on my 2013 wedding season.
