Westmount Country Club Wedding: Sally and Prad

I met Sally and Prad about a year ago at a coffeeshop in Brooklyn and I remember that we clicked so well together that it felt as if we’ve been friends for quite some time.  The feeling was mutual that we would work well together and did it ever!  They were such troopers during their engagement session back in the frigid month of April.  Fast forward to July and their wedding has already passed us by in a flash.

The soon to be couple began their day at 4 am, on a rainy Sunday morning, as they both had a very long day ahead of them.  Their wedding ceremony was marked by beautiful colors and traditions as it was a mix of two cultures and also filled with lots of emotions. The Hindu part of the ceremony started off early in the morning followed by a Chinese tea ceremony. One of my favorite events during their wedding day was the Chinese door games in which the bridesmaids demanded bribes from the groomsmen and subjected them to challenges that were often awkward but always hilarious.  After successfully completing these rights of passage challenges, the lucky groom earned his right to see his beautiful bride.  Following the games, they were off to the reception back at The Westmount Country Club where they danced the night away.

Sally and Prad (as well as their respective families) have traveled long winding roads and they are finally together.

Congratulations you two!

Indian Wedding: Nishita and Akhil

A heartfelt thank you to Ryan Brenizer who trusted me to document the first two days of this three-day Hindu wedding and then second shoot for him on the third day.  I still have memories of Nishita and Akhil’s wedding which took place in the sultry month of August in Somerset, New Jersey.  How could I not, this was my first Hindu wedding and it was an experience to remember as it was a culmination of beauty and intensity – each day consisted of several different rituals and mini ceremonies.  The mélange of colors, aromatic fragrances, and music all left such an indelible impression on my 2013 wedding season.
